Aston Villa’s defensive rebuild under Unai Emery continues to gather momentum, with reports linking the club to a potential move for AC Milan’s highly-rated Fikayo Tomori. This comes alongside the expected signing of Sevilla defender Loic Bade, as Villa aim to bolster their backline for a top-four challenge and Champions League campaign.
Tomori’s Time at AC Milan
Fikayo Tomori, 27, joined AC Milan in July 2021 for £25 million after impressing on loan from Chelsea. While he initially flourished in Serie A, the current season has been a mixed one for the England international. Under former manager Paulo Fonseca, Tomori struggled for consistent minutes. However, the arrival of Sergio Conceição in December has seen the defender return to a regular starting role.
Despite his improved form, Tomori’s international prospects remain hindered. His last appearance for England was in November 2023, and a return to the Premier League could provide the ideal platform to reestablish himself on the international stage.
Aston Villa’s Interest in Tomori
According to reports, Aston Villa are keen to bring the “outstanding” Tomori back to England. The club is already closing in on Loic Bade from Sevilla but views Tomori as an additional asset who could add depth and quality to their defensive lineup.
