Report: Aston Villa make bid to sign “incredible” star, club demands £100,000-a-week ace in return

Aston Villa have reportedly made an opening bid to sign Sevilla defender Loïc Badé as Unai Emery looks to bolster his defensive options. According to Vamos Mi Sevilla, Villa have proposed a deal worth approximately €15 million (£12.6 million) plus €5 million (£4.2 million) in performance-based add-ons for the highly-rated French defender.

Villa’s move comes amidst reported interest from other Premier League clubs, including Liverpool and Newcastle United. With Villa aiming to secure Badé’s signature early in the January transfer window, negotiations are being spearheaded by sporting director Monchi, who previously worked with Badé during his tenure at Sevilla.

Sevilla, however, are expected to reject Villa’s opening bid, reportedly holding out for a package closer to €27 million (£22.7 million). The Spanish side may also request a loan deal for Aston Villa’s Diego Carlos, a former Sevilla player, as part of the agreement.

Villa to Meet Sevilla Representatives

Vamos Mi Sevilla reports that a meeting between representatives from both clubs is scheduled for Wednesday to further discuss Badé’s potential transfer. Although the 24-year-old has a release clause of €60 million (£50 million), Sevilla’s financial constraints might make them willing to accept a significantly lower offer.

Badé has been a vital part of Sevilla’s lineup this season, starting 15 La Liga matches, contributing one assist, and maintaining an impressive 85.4% pass accuracy. Known for his defensive solidity, he averages 2.11 tackles per 90 minutes and has clocked 1,281 minutes of game time this season. Despite signing a new five-year deal in September, Sevilla are reportedly open to selling one of their most valuable assets.

Villa’s Transfer Strategy

Aston Villa began their January business by signing Borussia Dortmund forward Donyell Malen and are expected to pursue further additions to strengthen their squad. Currently eighth in the Premier League table, the Villans will look to climb higher under Emery’s leadership. However, they have won just two of their last five matches and face a crucial away game against Everton on Wednesday.

Badé, described as an “incredible” talent, combines physical presence with technical proficiency. His ability to pass out from the back and engage in high-pressure defensive situations would make him a strong addition to Emery’s tactical setup. If Villa can navigate Sevilla’s demands, Badé could form a formidable partnership with Pau Torres and add much-needed depth to Villa’s defensive line.

As discussions progress, Aston Villa must act decisively to fend off competition and finalize the deal. With a demanding fixture schedule ahead and the January transfer window now in full swing, securing Badé’s signature could play a key role in Villa’s ambitions this season.
