‘99%’ deal done: Aston Villa ready to announce latest signing

Aston Villa is gearing up for a busy few days as the club aims to finalize multiple transfer deals, setting the stage for several major announcements from the Premier League side.

Among the expected arrivals is Andrés García, the 21-year-old defender from Levante. Villa’s Sporting Director, Monchi, has reportedly outmaneuvered Sporting CP to secure García’s signature, marking a significant blow for the Portuguese club.

Sporting CP had initially lined up García as an alternative target after losing Alberto Costa to Juventus. Costa, who was initially set to join Sporting from Vitória de Guimarães, was snatched up by the Italian giants in a swift 48-hour transfer saga. Now, Aston Villa has delivered a second setback to the Lisbon-based side by closing in on García.

According to SuperDeporte, a newspaper close to Levante, García’s transfer to Aston Villa is “about to happen” and “nearly official.” The deal is expected to be worth €7 million upfront, with an additional €2.25 million tied to performance-based bonuses.

Levante, despite their disappointment over losing such a promising young player, enjoyed a 3-1 victory over Granada on Saturday. The result offered the team a silver lining amid García’s imminent departure. Levante manager Julián Calero remained optimistic, stating:

“I am happy for the group. I do not want pessimism to set in. Of course, if players leave in the market, we will not like it. Andrés is 99% out. But we will regroup and move forward.”

Aston Villa fans will be eager to see how García bolsters the team’s defensive options as the club pushes forward on multiple fronts under Unai Emery this season.
