Done deal: Villa agree €7m with Spanish club for most wanted player

Aston Villa have reportedly finalized an agreement with Levante for the transfer of 21-year-old defender Andres Garcia. The Spanish right-back has emerged as a primary target for Villa this week as the club continues to reinforce its options in defense.

Since the January transfer window opened, several players have been linked to Villa, but it seems Unai Emery, along with sporting director Monchi and the scouting team, has identified Garcia as their preferred choice.

Renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has reported that Villa and Levante have agreed to a €7 million deal for Garcia. The move has reportedly been personally approved by Emery, who is said to have spoken with the player to finalize the transfer. With negotiations at an advanced stage, the signing appears imminent.

Garcia, who came through Levante’s youth system, has made 50 senior appearances for the Spanish club. Alongside his defensive contributions, he has recorded four goals and six assists, showcasing his ability to influence both defense and attack. At just 21 years of age, the defender offers significant potential for growth, fitting well into Emery’s system, which demands full-backs who can defend confidently, maintain composure in possession, and contribute to the attacking phase.

If Garcia completes his move to Villa, he is expected to compete with Matty Cash for a starting spot in the lineup. Meanwhile, Serbian international Kosta Nedeljkovic is likely to leave on loan to secure regular playing time, a crucial step for his continued development after spending the last six months learning under Emery and the first-team squad.

Despite the anticipated arrival of Garcia, Villa fans will hope that Nedeljkovic remains part of the club’s long-term plans. His progress has shown promise, and a successful loan spell could enhance his prospects within the squad.

Villa’s decision to target Garcia, a standout in the Spanish second division, highlights the trust in the scouting team’s ability to identify a player who fits Emery’s tactical style. Reports from journalist Matteo Moretto suggest that the club’s pursuit of Oscar Mingueza—previously linked to Villa—has collapsed, solidifying Garcia as the preferred option.

Should Garcia join this January, Villa fans will hope he brings the depth and competition required at right-back, proving to be a shrewd addition to Emery’s evolving side.
