Kasımpaşa manager Hakan Keleş has shared his pride over Yasin Özcan’s imminent transfer to Aston Villa, speaking to the Turkish media about the young talent’s move to the Premier League.
The 18-year-old defender is on the brink of signing for Aston Villa, with reports suggesting that Kasımpaşa and the English club have reached an agreement.
Turkish outlet Turkiye Gazetesi reported Keleş’s remarks, where he highly praised Özcan and expressed confidence in his future success.
“As part of the agreement, he will most likely stay with us until the end of the season. I am very happy for him. I think he will do well, he will improve, and he will also contribute to the national team,” Keleş stated.
He went on to highlight Özcan’s progress, adding: “It is a source of pride for him and for our community. Since the day I arrived, he’s picked up momentum tremendously. I think he has a lot of potential. I think he’ll fit in there.”
Reports from yesterday indicated that Özcan had already traveled to England for a medical ahead of the transfer. Aston Villa is expected to pay up to €8 million for the young defender, depending on bonus-related conditions.
It is understood that as part of the deal, Özcan will return to Kasımpaşa on loan for the remainder of the season, continuing his development with the Super Lig side.
