Aston Villa have announced the permanent transfer of 22-year-old winger Jaden Philogene to Premier League rivals Ipswich Town. This move comes just six months after the England Under-21 international rejoined Unai Emery’s squad.
While the transfer fee remains officially undisclosed, The Athletic reports Ipswich Town are paying an initial £20 million, with an additional £3 million in potential add-ons. The transfer provides Philogene with the opportunity to secure more consistent first-team minutes, something he struggled to achieve during his time at Villa Park.
Philogene, who was born in London, made just 21 appearances for Aston Villa across two separate stints. Despite showing promise as a versatile winger, he found regular game time hard to come by, prompting the move to Ipswich.
In their statement, Aston Villa expressed their gratitude for Philogene’s contributions, saying, “We would like to thank Jaden for his service to the club and wish him all the very best in his future career.” The young winger now prepares to join his fifth club in three years as he seeks to take the next step in his career.
The move to Ipswich Town offers the dynamic wideman a fresh start in the Premier League, where he will aim to showcase his talent and fulfill the potential he has displayed at youth and international levels.
